"Ant-Man" is facing another setback after three of its stars dropped out of the movie. According to Deadline, Patrick Wilson, Matt Gerald and Kevin Weisman have all left the upcoming superhero movie. This comes after Marvel announced director Peyton Reed would replace Edgar Wright, after he abruptly quit a few months ago.
Sources told Deadline that Wilson left due to a hectic schedule. Reportedly he couldn't fit the project into his schedule anymore after it became delayed while Marvel searched for a mew director. The source also said the revised script by Adam McKay nixed both Gerald and Weisman's characters.
During San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel confirmed Evangeline Lily and Corey Stoll would appear alongside Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas. Lily will play Hope Van Dyne, the daughter of Hank Pym (Douglas), and Stoll will play Darren Cross aka Yellowjacket. Rudd stars as Scott Lang.
"We've been fans of Evangeline for years, and couldn't be more pleased that she's agreed to join us on Ant-Man's journey to the big screen," said Marvel's Kevin Feige. "We look forward to audience learning more about her character when she joins forces with Hank Pym and Scott Lang in 2015."
"Corey brings depth to every role he plays," Feige added. "As a major part of the Ant-Man ensemble, we all wanted an actor who could be both cunning and sympathetic, and help create a character as dynamic as Marvel's best antagonists."
WARNING: The following contains potential spoilers for "Ant-Man."
Previously JoBlo released some spoilers about the film and said it begins with Rudd's character Scott Lang as a thief and single father who falls into tough times. He breaks into the apartment of Hank Pym and steals the Ant-Man suit.
Despite the continued setbacks, "Ant-Man" is slated for a July 17, 2015 release date.
