George R.R. Martin’s sixth installment of “A Song Of Fire and Ice” could be released some time in 2017.
Christian Post reports Martin’s U.S. editor Anne Groell claims the author write 250 words a day for “Winds of Winter” and won’t increase his word count. At this pace, the editors expect Martin to complete his novel by 2017.
"Martin is one stubborn man and is very set in his ways," Groell said.
Martin recently discussed his writing process with KNME-TV at Jean Cocteau Cinema. The author is aware of the pressure from fans to complete the “Fire and Ice” sage, but won’t rush through the novels to appease them.
“I certainly feel a desire to finish the book. And it must be said that while I do get a lot of emails and mail of the type you’re describing, there are also many, many that are supportive, and probably far more of people saying ‘take your time, I love your books, whenever you’re ready I’ll be here…’,” Martin said.
Martin added he isn’t concerned about the HBO’s “Game of Thrones” adaptation wrapping before he finishes the novels. The author’s only concern is writing the story he wants in his own time.
“When I’m there and working, I just kind of fall through my computer screen and I forget the world, I forget deadlines, I forget the TV show, and the emails, and all of that stuff,” Martin told KNME-TV. “It’s just me and the characters and the world that I’m describing, and I’m writing a page at a time, and a scene at a time, and a word at a time.”
