“Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” producer Michael Ulsan dished details about the upcoming film. During an interview with App.com, Ulsan also commented about the backlash Ben Affleck received after his casting was revealed.
Ulsan wasn’t surprised by the negative reactions, as many other actors up for roles in superhero films received crisis about heir casting.
“We’ve been through this I don’t know how many times already,” Uslan said. “Every time a director makes a creative, out-of-the-box-thinking decision on casting, it tends to get this. I remember even the ‘Iron Man’ (2008) guys got it on Robert Downey Jr. initially.
“Of course, we got it intensely when another genius, Chris Nolan, chose Heath Ledger to play the Joker (in 2008’s ‘The Dark Knight’),” he added. “And it was a huge outcry: ‘How can a guy who just played a gay cowboy (in 2005’s ‘Brokeback Mountain’) play the Joker? You’re going to destroy the greatest villain ever, this is going to be a laugh.’”
Ulsan confirmed Affleck’s Bruce Wayne is a crime-fighting veteran in his mid-40s, according to App.com. Though Ulsan couldn’t reveal much about the film, “Man of Steel” actor Harry Lennix explained to ScreenWeekTv some Internet bloggers are more informed about the film than he is.
“You you can find out a lot more about it, then I’m able to say anything about, because we signed contracts, by going onto the Internet,” Lennix, who played General Swanick in MOS, told ScreenWeekTv. “Because a lot of the fans have more information about it than I have, and I can say that some of it seems to be informed. I don’t know where they got the information, but it is a great script. And I think that people will not be disappointed.”
