Robin William’s “Good Will Hunting” costars Matt Damon and Ben Affleck shared personal messages in honor of the late actor.
Williams, 63, died of an apparent suicide attempt on Aug. 11, leaving behind a wife and three children. Both Affleck and Damon were shocked by the news, and took the time to express their thoughts about Williams in separate statements.
“Heartbroken. Thanks chief - for your friendship and for what you gave the world. Robin had a ton of love in him. He personally did so much for so many people. He made Matt and my dreams come true. What do you owe a guy who does that? Everything. May you find peace my friend,” Affleck shared in a post to his Facebook followers.
Damon shared the same sentiments in a statement released to Just Jared.
“Robin brought so much joy into my life and I will carry that joy with me forever. He was such a beautiful man. I was lucky to know him and I will never, ever forget him,” Damon said. “I truly hope the people in the media can find it within themselves to give his family some privacy during this horrible time.”
Williams’ wife Susan Schneider has asked the public to respect her family’s privacy during their grieving process.
"This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings," Schneider told US Weekly. "I am utterly heartbroken. On behalf of Robin's family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin's death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions."
