Is there a feud between former "Sam & Cat" costars Jennette McCurdy and Ariana Grande? Following the cancellation of their Nickelodeon show, McCurdy launched a new web series called "What's Next for Sarah?"
The web series seems to pull a large part of its plot from McCurdy's real life and follows Sarah, a successful TV actress who learns that her show was axed. In the third episode fans are introduced to "Gloriana," a singer who seems a little obsessed with herself, but many fans thought the character was a jab at Grande.
During the episode, Sarah is told by her therapist to try juicing, which she does. After purchasing her drink, a girl with a high ponytail and a floral dress walks in the store singing. Gloriana and Sarah start talking but it's mostly Gloriana who does the chatting, where she brags about her perfect life and tells Sarah that she's "never been better" and is doing "so well."
Gloriana also starts talking about her music career and asks Sarah her plans following the cancellation of her show. It's not hard to see why some people would think McCurdy was trying to take a slight jab at the "Problem" singer.
Apparently, McCurdy caught wind of the grumbling and told her fans via Twitter that if they thought she was trying to diss her former costar, they should probably go focus on something else.
"god all this fodder about shade. If you're so worried about shade, get off your computer & go outside. Plenty of sun. #whatsnextforsarah," she posted.
It's also possible that the actress could have been poking fun at all the rumors claiming there was a feud between herself and Grande. TMZ previously reported that the supposed rift between the ladies was over a salary dispute claiming that the "Baby I" singer made a lot more than McCurdy.
At the time Grande angrily slammed the rumor.
"I don't know who's putting these idiotic quotes out there but I thought I'd straighten it out and try to end this nonsense," she posted on her Facebook page. "As far as the show goes, I don't know what's happening because I'm not directly involved with the problem but I just wanted to address this one rumor in particular because I am NOT making more money than my costar, not do I think I should be."
There were also rumors that the two had some type of falling out after racy pictures of McCurdy leaked online.
