'Assassin's Creed: Unity': Elise And Arno's Love Story Will Be Intertwined Throughout Game (TRAILER)

“Assassin’s Creed: Unity” Creativ Director Alex Amancio dished more details about Elise The Fiery Templar to the official AC DevBlog.

Arno Dorian may side with the Brotherhood, but the Assassin has a long history with Elise Lafleur. While little is known about Arno’s back story, but developers have revealed Arno was taken in by Elise’s father when he was very young.

The two have an extensive past, which will make for an interesting dynamic in “Assassin’s Creed: Unity.” Amancio told the AC DevBlog Elise and Arno never bonded like siblings, but always liked each other.

“Elise is not Arno’s sister,” Amancio said. “They grew up together but never shared a brother/sister relationship. They became fast friends and, as the years went on, they eventually fell in love. Elise was born into a noble family, a very influential family. Her family’s influence greatly surpassed their title and that is because of their Templar connection.

“Elise had a very privileged childhood, she would never want for anything, but she wasn’t interested in sitting around and doing nothing. She’d rather be hanging out with the servants playing pharaoh than going to a ball. She has always been one for adventure and, more often than not, would drag Arno along, getting him into trouble.”

Amancio explained Elise’s training for the Templar Order was well hidden from Arno. Her family took precautions in keeping her connection to the Order a secret, disguising her training into things like fencing classes and history lessons.

Elise and Arno’s story gets interesting when a series of events lead them back down the same path. According to Amancio, the two share many of the same characteristics, but are different kinds of fighters; Arno is about the quick kill, while Elise is more strategic.

However, it remains unclear why Arno would join the Assassins if he grew up with those training to become members of the Templar Order. “Assassin’s Creed: Unity” will be released to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Oct. 28.
