Suge Knight: Chris Brown ‘Intended Target’ in Pre-VMA Nightclub Shooting?

Rap mogul Suge Knight was shot six times during a pre-VMA party hosted by Chris Brown.

According to TMZ, the incident happened at 1 OAK nightclub in West Hollywood around 1:30 a.m. Details surrounding the shooting are still sketchy with some reports claiming that Brown, not Suge, was the intended target.

According to Media Take Out, a source close to situation said that a lot of people are upset with Brown because he cut some of his friends out of his life following his stint in rehab.

"Chris used to run with a bunch of gang members who were really scary," the source reportedly told MTO. "When he got out [of rehab], he cut them all off. I guess they're upset about that."

Reportedly the "Love More" singer had been receiving threats and someone was trying to "extort money out of him for weeks."

"It was [Chris Brown's former homies] shooting. And they were trying to hit Chris," the source claims.

TMZ previously reported that police believed the shooting was gang related and was trying to make a connection between The Game, Suge and Brown. It's been long rumored that Suge had ties to the Bloods gang and reportedly so does rapper The Game.

According to TMZ, The Game was at 1OAK about an hour-and-a-half before the shooting but he wasn't allowed inside. Sources said the rapper and his entourage showed up to the back of the club but security guards wouldn't let them in.

The Game eventually left but a few of his friends stayed behind and reportedly got into a fight with security. Entertainment journalist Ryan Downey told MTV that security was willing to let The Game into the club through the back door but wanted his entourage to enter through the front.

Downey said despite the altercation outside, everything seemed fine inside the club.

"Chris Brown was singing at different points, talking at different points. It was a good vibe, we were having fun," he said.

Once shots rang out, Downey told MTV that everyone ran, except for Brown.

"After the shots were fired and everybody hit the deck, he [Brown] jumped back on the table, throwing his arms up," he said

Sources told Page Six that seconds before the shooting Brown was talking to Suge and it seemed like a friendly conversation. The source also said they don't believe the pop star was the intended target.

"Suge was talking to Brown who was on a podium. They seemed to be having a friendly conversation that lasted a few minutes. About 30 seconds later shots rang out and Suge was hit. The shooter definitely wasn't aiming for Chris, because he was right there, stood above everyone, front and center."
