Along with new set photos, more details about Scoot McNairy’s mystery role have surfaced. A report by TheDevilEyes.com (via ComicBookMovie) claims an inside source revealed McNairy will be playing Jimmy Olsen, a reporter at the Daily Planet and a friend of Superman.
"Scoot is playing Jimmy Olsen, but with a bit of a twist,” the source said. “Jimmy was injured during the battle of Zod vs Superman. His legs where pinned under falling building rubble and that caused him to lose the legs. He now walks with the use of two prosthetic legs…He doesn't blame Superman for it [his loss of legs]. He feels grateful that Superman saved the world."
The “Batman vs. Superman” production has yet to confirm what character McNairy will play, but the actor recently spoke to Schmoes Know about landing the role.
McNairy took a moment to clear up the misconception his connection with Ben Affleck helped him land the role. The actor, like the rest of the cast, had to audition with director Zack Snyder.
“I auditioned for it you know and met with Zack Snyder and after some time went by I get a phone call and am asked to do this part you know,” McNairy told Schmoes Know. “I was browsing through Home Depot and I’m getting some lumber you know, and I get a phone call and he says, ‘Hi this is Zack Snyder’ and I’m just like, ‘No way! Absolutely if you’d have me, I’d love to be there.’ So that was a really awesome phone call.”
“Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” is slated to hit theaters on March 25, 2016.
