New “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” photos reveal Henry Cavill, boats and possible Gotham locations.
Though Cavill has been spotted multiple times, along with Gotham locations, it’s the boats that are catching fans’ attention. Some reports are speculating the boats belong to Aquaman, which could mean his first on set appearance is happening soon.
The DC production has yet to announce Aquaman’s casting, but “Game of Thrones” actor Jason Momoa has been linked to the role. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Will Beall ("Gangster Squad") and Kurt Johnstad ("300: Rise of an Empire") have signed on to pen the “Aquaman” solo film after the character debuts in the “Batman vs. Superman” production.
"'Aquaman' is being developed on dual tracks, where studios and producers hire two separate writers to work on the same project in the hopes of getting the best version," THR reports. "The practice allows for release dates to be set while a project is still in development while giving it a muscular push. Warners needs just that as last week it dated nine untitled DC movies between 2016 and 2020."
Director Zack Snyder is also fueling the Aquaman rumors. The “Batman vs. Superman” director called into a local Detroit radio station back in August to defend the superhero after being bashed by show hosts.
"I don't want to give anything away about the movie, but Aquaman has some cool abilities," Snyder said during his call. "People are like: ‘Oh, what? Does he talk to animals? Cause that seems like what he does. Or fish?' The cool thing with Aquaman is he's Triton, so you have to realize that [he] could cut the flesh of Superman if they came in contact."
“Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” is scheduled to hit theaters on March 25, 2016.
