From bad breakups to celebrity feuds, Taylor Swift's upcoming album is revealing a lot of dirty little secrets. The 24-year-old singer is known for her catchy songs about relationships-gone-bad, but this time the track everyone will be talking about focuses on a "straight-up enemy." And no, it's not a guy.
Swift sat down with Rolling Stone magazine to talk about her latest album, "1989," and admitted that the song "Bad Blood" is about another female singer she realized is definitely not her friend.
"For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not. She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, 'Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?'" Swift told the magazine. "[Then last year] she did something so horrible. I was like, 'Oh, we're just straight-up enemies.' And it wasn't even about a guy!"
Swift didn't want to name names but told Rolling Stone that it had something to do with business.
"She basically tried to sabotage an entire area tour," the 24-year-old said. "She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under men. And I'm surprisingly non-confrontational - you would not believe how much I hate conflict. So now I have to avoid her. It's awkward, and I don't like it."
The "Shake it Off" singer said that she knows the song will cause major speculation but Swift said that was not her intention.
"I know people are going to obsess over who it's about, because they think they have all my relationships mapped out... but there's a reason there are not any covert call-outs in that song," she said. "My intention was not to create some gossip-fest. I wanted people to apply it to a situation where they felt betrayed in their own lives."
Of course, the pop star couldn't release an album without some ex-boyfriend diss songs. According to Rolling Stone, Swift does dish on past romances with songs like "I Wish You Would," about an ex who bought a house two doors down from her (Harry Styles); and "All You Had to Do Was Stay," about a guy who didn't want to commit (also Styles).
