Square Enix has released a new trailer for “Final Fantasy XV” during the Tokyo Game Show.
The trailer showcased gameplay of four male characters traveling around in a fancy car. The protagonist in the title is named Noctis and is traveling with this companions Prompto, Gladiolus and Ignis.
It’s unclear what “Final Fantasy XV” is about, but the first demo for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will be released in March 20, 2015.
“Final Fantasy XV – Episode Duscae takes place near the beginning of Final Fantasy XV – but certain elements will be different from the final game,” PlayStation wrote in their European blog.
“This is a special demo and we want you to get hands on with a unique first-play experience that will be able to give you a better feeling for the game as a whole. While we don’t want to give too much of the final game away in Episode Duscae we do want you to have a much better understanding of Final Fantasy XV by the end of it.”
Along with the demo, Square Enix is launching “Final Fantasy Type-0 HD” for the PS4 and Xbox One. The title will be released in North America on March 17, 2015, Japan on March 19 and Europe on March 20, according to Joystiq.
Square Enix first announced “Final Fantasy XV” as “Final Fantasy Versus XIII” back in 2006. The developers have since made changes to the title, including replacing director Tetsuya Nomura with Hajime Tabata.
“In reviewing our development structure, we have decided to assign Hajime Tabata as the new director for Final Fantasy XV,” said Square Enix executive Yosuke Matsuda in a statement.
“Currently, Tabata and the entire development team are working, whole-heartedly, towards completing the production of Final Fantasy XV and ensuring the delivery of the highest quality Final Fantasy title to date.
“We invite every one of our fans to view the fruits of our labour through Final Fantasy XVs demo, and promise to present a game that further surpasses expectations when the finished product is released.”
According to Metro, the title will be focused on “action” and influenced by popular title from the “Assassin’s Creed” and “Grand Theft Auto” franchises. The is currently no set release date for “Final Fantasy XV,” but the title will be a next-gen exclusive.
