The original Green Ranger actor Jason David Frank teased his possible involvement in the upcoming “Power Rangers” reboot movie.
Frank, 41, has been a part of the “Power Rangers” franchise on and off since 1993. During an interview with ComicBook.com, Frank claimed he hasn’t been kept in the loop regarding production details.
“No, I haven’t heard anything, except for what Roberto [Orci] released. They are so tight-lipped on that project, it’s ridiculous. I don’t even know my involvement into it. They talked to me about being involved, and the fans would love to see me involved,” Frank said.
“You know, we were originally talking about a Green Ranger series, but unfortunately just due to the Lionsgate movie, they don’t want to overshadow anything or suppress the appetite of the fans, which is a little disappointing, but there’s still possibilities of it. It’s just I think they are trying to save…honestly, I think they are trying to save my appearance for the Lionsgate movie.”
Frank’s interview with ComicBook.com may have been conducted before Orci’s departure as the director of the film. Though Frank is unsure about how his character will fit into the reboot, the actor expects to at least make a cameo in the film.
“I probably will be involved. They talked to me about it. I don’t know how much I am involved, but for sure cameos at least in the reboot movie,” Frank said.
The “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” reboot is slated to hit theaters on July 22, 2016. For more on what Frank’s been up to besides his “Power Rangers” gigs, click here.
