'X-Men: Days Of Future Past': Quicksilver Featurette Breaks Down Fan-Favorite Scene (VIDEO)

“X-Men: Days of Future Past” has released a new featurette revealing how the “Catching Quicksilver” scene went down.

The production used “Phantom” cameras to capture up to 3,600 frames per second in order to cause the “stopping time” effect. The crew rehearsed the stunt for days to make sure the set was built to handle the scene.

Before the film was released, there was a controversy regarding both Marvel and FOX’s use of Quicksilver in their franchises. Quicksilver will also be featured in the upcoming "Avengers: Age of Ultron".

Though “X-Men” is a Marvel creation, FOX bought the rights to create the films before Disney bought out the comic book company. Kinberg told Total Film back in May the production was unaware Marvel had plans for Quicksilver in the "Avengers” cinematic universe.

"It wasn't something we anticipated because we didn't know they were using him in the 'Avengers' movie. We only found that out...weeks after we made the decision that we had done it. And then, after that even, I think it was a little while before the controversy started," Kinberg told Total Film.

Kinberg admitted the production was also planning on adding Scarlet Witch into the mix, but her scene was axed from the final product.

"We talked about bringing Scarlet Witch into the mix for this film," Kinberg said. "Actually, there was a little scene that we shot that we ended up cutting out of the movie that eluded to her. It was sort of an interstitial scene that didn't push the movie forward and so it ended up being cut..."

“X-Men: Apocalypse” is scheduled to hit theaters on May 27, 2016.
