Another superhero television series may be making its way to The CW soon.
Mark Pedowitz, the president of The CW, recently confirmed to Buzzfeed the network is currently discussing more live-action DC superhero shows.
“There are discussions going on,” Pedowitz said, “but I can’t tell you what they are.”
The CW could be attempting to compete with the upcoming live-action “Supergirl” TV show. Deadline reported back in September Warner Bros. teamed up with “The Flash” producer Greg Berlanti to develop the seriesm which was eventually picking up by CBS. The “Supergirl” series also landed writer Ali Adler to help pen the show’s script.
“The project is expected to be taken out in a couple of weeks and pitched to the major networks the way WBTV and DC did with their high profile Batman prequel Gotham, which landed at Fox with a big commitment,” according to Deadline.
“The Supergirl series had been in the works at WBTV for some time with Berlanti and Adler. Contrary to a report that was picked up by a number of outlets, Michael Green has had no involvement in the project.”
The CW isn’t the only network that’s reportedly working on developing a new superhero series. FOX is rumored to be developing a live-action “X-Men” show with a female lead.
“Most recently, we’ve been told, there was some question of having a female lead for the show,” according to Film Divider. “That’s a good thing for a number of reasons. Firstly, any female-led show is not only good for redressing the balance, it would stand out on the schedules. Such shows are still an exception rather than 50% of the rule.”
FOX has yet to comment on the “X-Men” show rumors. Which DC character do you think could make a great CW series? Let us know in the comments below.
