PaleyFest 2014: ‘The Walking Dead’ Season 5 Premiere Will be ‘Brutal, Touching… Then It All Goes to Hell’ (VIDEO)

In less than 24 hours, our Sunday nights will once again be devoted to zombies and Terminus. Season 5 of AMC's "The Walking Dead" premieres Oct. 12, and the cast and crew were in New York for the 2014 PaleyFest to reveal some last-minute details.

HNGN.com got to hang out with Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes), Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon) and a few other cast members on the red carpet to discuss the show. At the end of Season 4, Rick was ready to go war with the folks at Terminus, and Lincoln told HNGN that his character this season will be "a butt-kicking Rick."

"That's exactly what I'm going to be doing," he said.

Lincoln elaborated a little more to USA Today and said, "You meet a man this season who, if you stand alongside him, you're family. If you stand in front of him, you're a problem. So I think you meet a man who is without conflict about what it takes to survive in this world."

"He's very dangerous, powerful, pragmatic and probably the most impressive leader he's ever been," Lincoln continued. "He's letting go of the past and embracing this new world. What you may find this season is if the rest of the family is willing to come with him on this journey."

Chad Coleman (Tyreese) dished on the premiere and said, "it's going to be a beautiful, touching reunion, that's warm and fuzzy and then it all goes to hell from there."

At the end of last season, the majority of the group was reunited at Terminus. However, they were left in a really bad situation when the people at Terminus - rumored to be cannibals - trapped them inside a train car.

"One of the great things about our first episode is there are, I would say, a ton of mysteries about Terminus: who these people are, why they're there, what they're doing, what they're planning to do with the people that are in the train car," creator Robert Kirkman said at PaleyFest, according to USA Today. "And one thing that's really great about our premiere is that we're answering pretty much all those questions right out of the gate. So any questions that you have about Terminus, or a lot of questions that you have about this season, we're answering that stuff very quickly and we're not dragging that out."

AMC also released another teaser showing the first four minutes of Season 5. Check it out below.
