AMC is bringing back "The Walking Dead" for a sixth season, the network announced on Tuesday. According to E! News, Scott Gimple will return as showrunner and executive producer. So far AMC has not revealed how many episodes will be in Season 6.
"We could not be more excited for October 12th as we share new episodes of 'The Walking Dead' with fans around the globe," said AMC president Charlie Collier in a statement to E! News. "In advance of Sunday's season five premiere, AMC proudly confirms a sixth season order of this extraordinary series. Thank you to Robert Kirkman, Scott Gimple, the terrific executive producers, and the entire team who brings this compelling world and these rick characters to life. There's plenty more 'Dead' ahead thanks to their impressive, collective effort."
Season 5 of the zombie apocalyptic show kicks off Sunday, Oct. 12 and Steven Yeun (Glenn Rhee) previously told E! that there is going to be a lot of surprises in store.
"I remember a couple of scenes I would look over aw what was going on in the scene and I would be like, 'What the eff? What are we doing? How is this legal?' It's grounded and real, too; it's not like torture or gore for no reason," he said. "It's literally, that is what would happen and we are trying to show it. It would not work on network television, let me tell you that."
Besides an amazing new season there have also been rumors and teases about a few of the main characters dying, which mean they won't make it to Season 6. According to SpoilersGuide.com, fans should prepare for not one major death, but two or more.
The teaser came from TV Line, which reported the following: "You know how last season the major-character-body-count was relatively low? That will not be the case in Season 5." There have been rumors that Glenn, Tyreese and Bob might be killed.
