'Gambit' Movie: Channing Tatum Says Production Wants To 'Give Something Fresh' To Fans In Upcoming 'X-Men' Film

Channing Tatum continue to tease “X-Men” fans about his upcoming Gambit role, which could be coming to the big screen soon than you think.

During an interview with MTV News, Tatum claimed he couldn’t give away too many details about the production other than he and the producers are currently looking for a scriptwriter.

“I don’t want to give too much away because we don’t know that much right now other than who Gambit is,” Tatum said. “We really do want to try our hardest to give something fresh. We’re obviously going to go to the saving the world superhero movies eventually, but not for the first one.”

The last news about Gambit was back in July. “X-Men” Simon Kinberg spoke to the Latino Review about the character’s possible appearance in “X-Men: Apocalypse.”

Kinberg claimed he was unsure if Tatum would be featured in an “X-Men” film before making a “Gambit” movie.

“I genuinely don’t know the answer to that question,” Kinberg said. “It’s something we are all talking about whether it would be good for Gambit to be in a mainline X-MEN movie or he would be in his own stand-alone movie potentially one day to be able to be in another X-MEN movie after his Gambit movie introduces him. I really don’t know the answer.

“I don’t think there is a hard and fast rule which way is better. I think both ways have worked and I think actually the real question will be is there a role that is strong and specific enough for Gambit in a mainline X-MEN movie whether it be APOCALYPSE or future X-MEN movie that would be the right way to introduce the character. You don’t want to stick characters in these movies and manufacture something for them to do."
