“Star Wars: Episode VII” is adding another franchise alum into their cast mix. Actor Warwick Davis, who played the Ewok Wicket in “Return of the Jedi”, confirmed he would be returning to the “Star Wars” franchise.
Davis made the announcement in a video on the official “Star Wars” website. Check out his hilarious return message in the clip below.
“Star Wars Episode: VII” is set 30 years after the “Return of the Jedi.” The film will star returning cast members Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Kenny Baker and Peter Mayhew as well as new franchise actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson and Lupita Nyong'o.
In other “Star Wars” news, ILM President Lynwen Brennan recently spoke about J.J. Abrams’ production to IGN regarding what fans can expect to see in the upcoming installment.
Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) is the studio behind all CGI effects in the Lucasfilm production. Brennan explained Abrams interjected his personal style into making “Star Wars: Episode VII” and it really shows through on screen.
“It’s very much JJ [Abrams]’s style, we’ve worked with JJ quite a few times now. One of the things that makes his films have so much heart is they are grounded in reality. There’s something the actors can touch and feel. He’s so passionate about that, and it comes through in his films,” Brennan told IGN.
“And what it does for us in visual effects is it also gives us something to build upon. It gives us something to ground our visual effects with. Not only in the shots that have practical sets that we’re expanding on, or putting a creature into, it also gives us a really strong aesthetic that we know to follow in shots that are all-CG.”
“Star Wars: Episode VII” is slated to hit theaters on Dec. 18, 2015.
