Felga Labels Sends World's First Plotted Plant Into Stratosphere

Felga Labels sent the first potted plant into space as part of an advertising campaign.

Two British men sent a burger and chips into the stratosphere for the first time earlier this week, and its popularity inspired the Felga Labels advertising campaign.

The labeling company sent a potted Hawothia Imifolia Sardinie Siesta, a plant that originally lived in its wild form in the warm climate of South Africa, into the stratosphere, reports Labeling Blog. The plant, pot and label reportedly survived the space expedition.

German air traffic control arranged a date and time with Felga Labels to ensure the safety of the flight. Like the men who sent the burger to space, the plotted plant was sent with a GPS that video recorded the flight.

The potted plant made it about 110,880 feet into the air, reports Labeling Blog.

Felga Labels sent the plant into space from lberstedt, Germany. It landed in Mellensee, Germany - about a two-hour drive from its starting point.
