If you thought you saw the last of Ryan Murphy on Fox, guess again. His hit show "Glee" is quickly coming to an end, but Murphy will be back next fall with a new horror-comedy series called "Scream Queens."
Fox announced in a statement on Oct. 20 that they have picked up 15, one-hour episodes for the show's first season. Murphy is creating the series with his "Glee" co-creators Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan. "Scream Queens" will follow in the footsteps of "American Horror Story" as an anthology series, with the first season focusing on a college campus plagued with random murders, according to Entertainment Weekly. Each season after will feature a new location, new characters and new plot.
"I knew I wanted to work with Brad and Ian again on something comedic, and we are having a blast writing 'Scream Queens.' We hope to create a whole new genre - comedy horror - and the idea is for every season to revolve around two female leads. We've already begun a nationwide search for those women, as well as 10 other supporting roles, and we're very grateful to Dane and Gary for their enthusiastic support," Murphy said in a statement to EW.
Two weeks ago, it was announced that FX had picked up an anthology companion series to "American Horror Story," called "American Crime Story." The first season, subtitled "People v. O.J. Simpson," will have 10 episodes and focuses on the trial "told from the perspective of the lawyers that explores the chaotic behind-the-scenes dealings and maneuvering on both sides of the court, and how a combination of prosecutors confidence, defense witness, and the LAPD's history with the city's black community gave a jury what it needed: reasonable doubt," Deadline reported.
The season is based on the book by Jeffrey Toobin called "The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson."
