“Assassin’s Creed: Unity” will have an immense open-world with plenty of side quests to keep gamers occupied.
In Ubisoft’s latest trailer for the title, Creative Director Alex Amancio teased the Murder Mysteries, Treasure Hunts and Paris Stories used to bring Paris, France alive in different ways. The Paris districts’ architecture will also influence what kind of missions fans should expect.
“For example, you may find yourself in Île de la Cité. This is a more religious district and has a gothic flair to the architecture,” Ubisoft wrote in their official blog. “Art Director Mohamed Gambouz describes Île de la Cité as a more ‘mystic’ and ‘spooky’ district, with its wooden structures and spiky, triangular rooftops.
“This area also has a high number of cemeteries, so the team added a lot of mist to further enhance the eerie sensation. All these factors – architecture, layout, atmosphere – were considered when designing each district.”
There are also plenty of weapons in the arsenal for gamers to choose from. “Assassin’s Creed: Unity” is debuting their latest version of the staple Hidden Blade weapon in the upcoming title.
“The Phantom Blade in Assassin’s Creed Unity turns our standard, trusty wristblade into a silent projectile, allowing us to quickly and quietly deal with opponents from a distance,” Ubisoft wrote. “…The Phantom Blade is meant to be a crossbow of sorts, and eventually he will be able to upgrade it with different kinds of darts and blades.”
The one of the core features in “Assassin’s Creed: Unity” gameplay is stealth. Developers wanted to create complimentary weapons to the game's core pillars: navigation, stealth, and combat.
“Our philosophy is not simply to add gadgets, but to develop a feature linked to one of the core brand pillars,” Lead Game Designer Alex Pedneaul told UbiBlog. “With Assassin’s Creed Unity, the Phantom Blade is a new feature that affects two core brand pillars: stealth and combat.”
“Assassin’s Creed: Unity” will be released to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Nov. 21.
