Actor Ewan McGregor doesn’t mind the harsh criticism for his performance in the “Star Wars” franchise.
The actor opened up about working on the “Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace” during a recent interview with DETAILS magazine. McGregor acknowledged he isn’t in the best position to argue with critics as he’s only seen the film once, which was during the premiere.
“They had a tall order, the three films I did,” he explained. “The fans waited so long and wanted to feel like they did when they watched the first film, but they were grown-ups by that time. I don't mind the criticism. I've heard it to my face.”
However, McGregor doesn’t care for the “super fans” that aggressively approach him to sign Obi-Wan Kenobi memorabilia so they can sell it online. The actor says he hasn’t had a positive experience with “Star Wars” fans because he hasn’t had the opportunity to meet them.
“I don't have any experience with them,” McGregor said. “I've never been to one of the conventions. The people I meet are the f**kers who want me to sign Star Wars photos so they can sell them on the Internet or the people at premieres who are crushing children against barriers to get me to sign their f**king picture of Obi-Wan Kenobi. They're not fans - they're parasitical lowlifes and f**king wankers.”
McGregor didn’t talk about the upcoming “Star Wars: Episode VII” production during his interview with DETAILS, but there are rumors his character is getting his own standalone spinoff series.
“Star Wars: Episode VII” is slated to hit theaters on Dec. 18, 2015.
