'Black Panther' Movie Casts '42' Actor Chadwick Boseman As Lead, Release Date Confirmed

Marvel Studios confirmed the actor set to star in their latest live-action comic book adaptation, “Black Panther.”

Marvel held a press conference in Los Angeles on Tuesday to announce its movie lineup through 2019. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige revealed the new title of the “Captain America 3” movie starring Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans: “Captain America: Civil War.”

"As you can see, we have a hell of a lot of work to do,” Feige said during the press conference.

Downey Jr. and Evans then took the stage to introduce "42" actor Chadwick Boseman as the new Black Panther.

“Welcome to the fray, get used to that applause,” Downey told Boseman.

The crowd quickly began taunting Bosemen to choose sides between Captain America and Iron Man.

“Black Panther is kind of his own guy,” Boseman said. "I'm blessed to be a part of this Marvel Universe, to work with you both, and to make magic together.”

Feige added, “Black Panther and all of Wakanda is one of the most interesting characters in Marvel history. Something I already showed you today contains an Easter egg that leads directly into ‘Black Panther.’ He’s a bit of a prince, he may even become a bit of a king, but it’s all about how this isolationist country meets the world. Maybe it goes well, maybe it doesn’t.”

The “Black Panther” movie starring Boseman will be released to theaters on Nov. 3, 2017.
