“Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” director Zack Snyder was spotted on the streets of Chicago, but don’t think he’s abandoning his Detroit, Mich. sets.
The director spoke with WXYZ Detroit to thank the local residents and businesses for allowing them to roam the streets and use the city's abandoned buildings as backdrops for Gotham and Metropolis.
“For us, it’s been a perfect location because we have Gotham City. I know there’s an effort to clean up the blight here in Detroit, but for us it’s been awesome because we’ve used it,” Snyder said.
The “Batman vs. Superman” production filmed on location in Detroit for almost a year. Snyder confirmed to WXYZ Detroit the future “Justice League” film will be shot in Detroit as they’ve already established locations for the upcoming movie.
However, don’t expect any less set security if Snyder does end up shooting the majority of the "Justice League" film in Detroit.
“We just want the movie to be surprising when it comes out. We do a lot of crazy stuff in the movie so I wouldn’t want you to get short-changed by the Internet, which loves to do that, “ Snyder said.
Snyder may not be dishing details about his “Batman vs. Superman” vision, but “Aquaman” actor Jason Momoa told a Walker Stalker Con panel crowd they have a lot to look forward to, especially with what Snyder plans to do with his character.
“The greatest thing for me is that Polynesians, our gods, Kahoali, Maui, all these water gods, so it’s really cool and a honor to be playing a [water] character,” he said. “And there’s not too many brown superheroes, so I’m really looking forward to representing the Polynesians, the natives.”
Momoa added, “My family are some of the greatest water men on earth. I’m not, but I’m going to go train with them. But it’s really an honor just being a Polynesian. And water is the most important thing in this world and we all know it. It’s cool be a part of DC’s universe. I’m really excited to be with Warner Bros., and hopefully everyone likes it. And Zack Snyder’s a genius, so I’m really excited to be hanging out with him.”
“Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” is slated to hit theaters on March 25, 2016.
