'Destiny' Update Reveals Free Content For Gamers That Doesn't Require 'The Dark Below' Expansion Pack Purchase

Bungie’s latest update for their “Destiny” title is a little more than just a Halloween inspired update.

Developers also spoke about the free content available for download for players even if they decide not to purchase “The Dark Below” expansion pack. According to Bungie’s official blog, developers will be releasing new gear, weapons and daily bounties for all of their “Destiny” gamers.

Bungie’s community manager Deej also dished on what “Destiny” players should expect to see in “The Dark Below.” According to Deej, “The Dark Below” will revolve around The Hive summoning their dark god, Crota. The storyline will evolve into missions, quests and will eventually end with a raid.

“The story missions will take you into untapped spaces with brand new encounters. There’s new music, custom effects, and some serious challenges to undertake. The Strike and Raid will also feature beautiful new spaces and difficult new engagements to overcome for you and your Fireteam,” Deej wrote.

“The storyline of the Dark Below kicks off with the return of Eris to the Tower, bearing a grim warning about the rise of Crota. Eris is a new character that appears in the Tower to serve as your guide. She has her own story to tell, and serves as the primary narrator for the Story missions. She offers her own reputation stream, unique weapon and armor rewards, as well as other item rewards for Guardians who earn her favor.”

Bungie is using “The Dark Below” to introduce their new Quests and Bounty systems, which gamers will be able to take part of even if they don’t purchase the expansion pack.

“For example, one Quest creates a continuous chain of multiple tasks that culminates in the ‘Will of Crota’ Strike. Another may simply ask you to return to Earth to take down the surging Hive threat,” Deej wrote.
