AT&T is expanding its wearable offerings by adding two round-dial smartwatches from Motorola and LG starting this Friday.
AT&T, the second largest wireless carrier in the U.S., is making holiday shopping for electronic gadgets even more exciting by opening sales for two unique smartwatches in the industry. The industry's first round-face smartwatch, Moto 360, and LG's circular timepiece, the G Watch, will be up for sale through AT&T's retail channels starting Friday, Nov. 7. The national carrier made the announcement in two separate press releases Tuesday, giving information on the pricing and refreshing memories with detailed specs.
According to AT&T, the Moto 360 smartwatch will be available online and through stores for $249. But for a limited time, the carrier is offering a discount of $50 if bought along with an all-new Moto X smartphone. As for the LG G Watch R, AT&T will start selling the device through its online channel starting Wednesday, Nov. 5 for $299. The smartwatch will hit the stores on Nov 7 along with its rival Moto 360.
Both smartwatches feature a similar circular display, but LG says its G Watch R is a perfect circle without the flat tire design as seen at the bottom of the Moto 360's display. Despite their circular dial, both smartwatches are distinct in terms of design and features. The LG G Watch R is slightly greater on specs as it sports a 410mAh battery compared to Moto 360's 320mAh and higher resolution. But both watches have an appeal in the wearable category with their exquisite looks and designs.
Both smartwatches share common ground too. They offer health tracking capabilities with built-in heart rate monitors, 4GB on-board storage and the ability to sync with Android smartphones running version 4.3 or higher. These watches also serve basic smartwatch functionalities such as notifying incoming text messages and emails, calls, reminders and other important functions.
With both smartwatches hitting the stores on the same day, it will be a tough choice for consumers.
