Lionsgate has released a teaser clip from the upcoming “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1.”
The short video shows Katniss Everdeen’s reaction to seeing Peeta Mellark being interviewed by Caesar Flickerman. Caesar is asking Peeta what happened during the 75th Quarter Quell games, to which the District 13 crowd watches eagerly with Katniss.
For those unfamiliar with Suzanne Collins’ “Mockingjay”, the novel concludes Katniss Everdeen’s journey from Hunger Games survivor to Rebel leader. The third book begins with the aftermath of the Quarter Quell games.
The tributes were able to help Katniss escape the arena, but the Captiol holds Peeta and his fellow Quarter Quell contestant Johanna Mason captive. Katniss struggles with wanting to save Peeta from the Capitol and keeping her family safe from their attacks.
Katniss eventually realizes as long as President Snow is in charge of the Capitol, her loved ones would never be safe. Katniss decides to take matters in to her own hands and demands District 13 help rescue Peeta if they want her to lead the rebellion.
Though Katniss may appear strong, she’s never been more conflicted in her life as she struggles to decide what’s best for everyone. Katniss is extremely reserved and distrusts everyone around her: there’s something about President Alma Coin she doesn’t like, Pluratch Heavensbee is one big mystery and her Hunger Games coach Haymitch Abernathy has lied to her in order to manipulate her actions.
