Jennifer Lawrence knows exactly what fans would find on Katniss Everdeen’s iPod if she were around today.
Lawrence and her fellow “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” cast members held a press conference after their London premiere. The actress was asked several questions about her character and what it’s been like to portray the heroine over the years.
Check out some of what Lawrence had to say about Katniss below. “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” will be released to theaters on Nov. 21.
Lawrence on what kind of music Katniss would be listening to:
“Lorde. Definitely Lorde…Honestly the first time I ever heard [Yellow Flicker Beat] it gave me goosebumps. You read a book and you kind of internalize a character, you go on set, you have conversations with the director and the costars on how to build something, but…it was so bizzare to hear the musical version of emotionally how I feel in between action and cut sometimes.
“I know that sounds like a really weird thing to say, but [Lorde] captured that character so magically that it was a really amazing thing to listen to. I think Katniss would be a huge Lorde fan and obviously Taylor Swift, who’s awesome.”
Lawrence on how “Mockingjay” differs from the first two films:
“It’s not about getting the games anymore; we’re moving into a real war between District 13 and The Capitol. Things are kind of naturally getting darker story wise, visually because we’re underground a lot in District 13. We’re just following her journey.”
Lawrence on how Katniss is adjusting to life in District 13:
“Katniss has been completely stripped down when we find her at the beginning of this movie. She has suffered from post-traumatic stress from the first games. She had to go back. She wakes up in a district that she didn’t even know existed. She’s lost her home.
“She’s completely bare and has to rebuild herself. Fortunately, we almost shot in sequence. One of the first scenes I shot was when we first find Katniss and she’s locked herself in an air vent…She’s in a darker place because she’s completely stripped away from everything she knows…”
