'Black Panther' Star Chadwick Boseman Is Hitting The Gym To Prepare For His 'Captain America: Civil War' Debut

“Black Panther” star Chadwick Boseman is taking cues from "Guardians of the Galaxy" actor Chris Pratt and getting ready for his upcoming Marvel movie by hitting the gym.

Boseman attended the Hollywood Film Awards, where he made a red carpet appearance, according to ComicBookMovie. The actor told reporters he was in the midst of working out to get into superhero shape.

"I'll be in Captain America: Civil War," he told reporters. "We're preparing for that right now as well; [I'm] just sort of beginning the workout for that. We also have A Message From the King which will happen before [Civil War]."

The actor also told another red carpet interviewer he’s in for a lot of training, ComicBook.com reported. The interviewer said it could never hurt to be a superhero, to which Boseman responded, "It could hurt. That could be part of the story -- that it hurts to be a superhero."

Boseman was able to keep his casting a secret by only telling his inner circle of friends and asking them to keep it on the low, according to IMDB.

"I told some of my close friends," Boseman said. "I had to keep quiet about it, so there wasn't a lot I could do to be honest. It was mainly after it was announced I could celebrate it with people. Just to spend some time with people that I care about afterwards."

“I'm actually preparing for another role at this moment. A Message From the King is the movie I'm doing next. I'm doing prep for that. To some degree, there are some things I have to do at the same time. Black Panther will have its time when it gets complete focus."

“Captain America: Civil War” is set to hit theaters on May 6, 2016, and “Black Panther” is scheduled for a November 3, 2017 release.
