Christmas has come early for "Star Wars" fans!
The official Twitter account for "Star Wars: Episode VII-The Force Awakens" announced that the highly anticipated trailer for JJ Abrams' film has been released on iTunes. Check below to watch it!
Earlier on Friday, Abrams teased the video's release writing on Twitter, "A TINY peek at what we're working on- this Friday in select theaters. Hope you enjoy, and have a most excellent Thanksgiving! Best, JJ," the note read with a blurb that the teaser will be "88 seconds."
Besides appearing online, fans can catch the trailer during previews. It was previously announced that at least 30 theaters across the country would be showing the clip. The trailer will play throughout the entire Thanksgiving weekend at those select theaters.
"Star Wars: Episode VII-The Force Awakens" is set 30 years after the events of "Return of the Jedi" (1983) and includes original cast members Harrison Ford as Han Solo, Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia, Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Anthony Daniels as C3PO, Peter Mayhew as Chwbacca and Kenny Baker as R2D2.
A slew of new actors have joined the film including Lupita Nyog'o, Gwendoline Chritsie, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson and Max Von Sydow. Adam Driver has signed on to play a new villain.
Last week, Badass Digest released an alleged description of the trailer.
"If my sources are correct (and this is a big IF. These sources have been mighty reliable in the past, and if they're wrong I believe they're wrong honestly, i.e. they're not bullshitting me), it'll be short. And when I say short, I mean one minute long. It's going to have The Force Theme played on woodwinds, softy, over flashing images of the main leads, each fading to black," the site wrote.
"There's no dialogue, just reveals of the characters. And then the music swells up into a full orchestral piece - perhaps what John Williams recorded this weekend? - and we hear a female voice, likely Daisy Ridley's, saying, 'Wake up.' And then the title card appears - Star Wars: The Force Awakens - and we see the Millennium Falcon, firing blasters, coming right at the camera."
"Star Wars: Episode VII- The Force Awakens" will hit theaters December 2015.
