More details are emerging surrounding the death of Bravo star and fitness guru Greg Plitt. The star of "Work Out" was struck and killed by a Metrolink commuter train Saturday afternoon while he filmed what is believed to be a fitness video.
It was previously reported that Plitt stumbled and fell onto the track in front of the train, but TMZ is reporting that he was allegedly trying to outrun it. Law enforcement officials told the website that they reviewed the footage of the accident and it shows the 37-year-old standing on the track as the train approached.
Reportedly, as the train got closer Plitt crouched down into a running position and took off down the track. Sadly, the train caught up the workout enthusiast and clipped him, sending him flying off the tracks.
Law enforcement told TMZ that the reality star disappeared from the video after the train struck him. Officials also said that several energy drink bottles were scattered on the ground near the train tracks.
According to TMZ, Plitt was filming a commercial for the unnamed product and was allegedly trying to prove that the drink gives you speed like Superman. The site previously reported that friends close to Plitt said he tripped and fell and couldn't get up before the train approached.
"It was just a freaky moment where something got out of control," Plitt's friend Warren Coulter told CBS News. "No question of it, it was just a mistake."
Investigators said Plitt and the film crew didn't have a permit to film on the tracks. Scott Johnson, a spokesman for Metrolink, told CBS that it's possible Plitt didn't realize the train was on the same track that he was standing on.
"It's like a blind turn," he said. "When the train came, you might not be able to tell which set the train is on."
