Jennifer Lawrence posed nude and let a boa constrictor slither across her body for a sexy photo shoot with Vanity Fair magazine. The never-before-seen picture was taken back in July by photographer Patrick Demarchelier for the publication's November issue.
At the time, the magazine decided not to use the image but released it Friday on their Instagram page.
"Girl Meets Boa: #JenniferLawrence, photographed by Patrick Demarchelier for Vanity Fair. Pick up the March 2015 issue for the full Spotlight," the magazine captioned the photo.
In a post about the picture, Vanity Fair wrote that the picture was an homage to the 1981 Richard Avedon Vogue photo of model Nastassja Kinski.
"Jennifer has the perfect combination of strength, sexuality, and humor, and, above all, tomboy to pull this off," said Vanity Fair's fashion and style director Jessica Diehl.
While "The Hunger Games" actress looks completely relaxed in the photo, Diehl revealed that there was a scary moment when the boa "took a fancy" to Lawrence's neck.
"Then the shoot was over and Mr. Boa went back into his box," the magazine wrote.
For the publication's November issue, the 24-year-old opened up about her (private) nude photos being leaked online by a hacker. At the end of August, Lawrence became one of the first victims to have naked photos posted on 4chan as part of a massive celebrity hacking scandal.
Lawrence told Vanity Fair that she wanted to release a statement about the photos but she was too emotional and she was terrified the leak would ruin her career.
"I started to write an apology, but I don't have anything to say I'm sorry for," she said. "I was in a loving, healthy relationship for four years. it was long distance, and either your boyfriend is going to look at porn or he's going to look at you."
"Just because I'm a public figure, just because I'm an actress, does not mean that I asked for this," Lawrence continued. "It does not mean that it comes with the territory. It's my body, and it should be my choice, and the fact that it is not my choice is absolutely disgusting. I can't believe that we even live in that kind of world."
