NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory Celebrates 5th Birthday with Trippy Videos of Sun (VIDEOS)

The Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) celebrated its fifth birthday on Wednesday and NASA celebrated by releasing a time-lapse videos showing the power and beauty of our sun.

SDO images make it possible "to watch the constant ballet of solar material through the Sun's atmosphere, the corona," a NASA spokesperson said, according to The Space Recorder. "Five years into its mission, SDO continues to send back tantalizing imagery to incite scientists' curiosity."

In the first video, the sun is spinning and changing color. Each color represents a different visual wavelength.

You can view massive explosions on the sun in this video:

Happy birthday, SDO!
