PayPal Quadrillion: Pennsylvania Man Briefly Becomes Richest Person in The World After a Money Transfer Accident

PayPal accidently made a Pennsylvania man the richest person in the world after transferring $92,233,720,368,547,800 (or $92 quadrillion) into his account, the Daily Mail reports. Chris Reynolds told reporters that he was shocked after opening his monthly statement.

"I just felt like a million bucks," he said. "At first I thought that I owed quadrillions."

He told the New York Daily News that at first he was "taken aback" by the massive amount of money but that feeling would be very short lived. After logging on to his account with PayPal he discovered that he actually had a zero balance and the emailed statement had been a huge mistake.

According to the Daily Mail, the 56-year-old man is a regular PayPal customer and has used the online money-transfer site for almost ten years. He said he usually spends no more than $100 a month and uses it to sell and buy items on eBay, including vintage car parts.

The mistake didn't leave the father of three upset but instead charitable. He told Philly.com that after opening the email he donated $30 to the Democratic slate for Delaware County Council.

"I was moved to be really generous by good fortune," he said.

If the money was actually his the father of three said he already knows what he would have spent some of the cash on. He told Philly.com that he would have paid off some of the national debt and then bought the Philadelphia Phillies baseball team if he could get a good price for it.

I'm a very responsible guy," he told Philly.com. "I would pay the national debt down first."

In a statement to CNN PayPal said: "This is obviously an error and we appreciate that Mr. Reynolds understood this was the case."
