Rumors regarding the low-cost iPhone are all over the place. For a time it was expected to have a comfortable release alongside the iPhone 5s. However, with that production lagging until the end of the year to incorporate a possible 4.3-inch display screen, now the project's future is up in the air but still expected to be released in the fall.
Rumored to be titled the "iPhone Lite" reports from Phone Area, which pointed to a Chinese forum as a source give evidence to the idea that Apple will be releasing two iPhone models this year, the standard version, likely under the name iPhone 5s and the iPhone Lite, one of which, according to the slides is either already in mass production or is very close to being in mass production.
The report shows slides from a presentation, which seems to lay out the specifications of multiple versions of the popular smartphone. According to Apple Insider, the documents give two different code names for the devices: Zenvo and Zagato/Bertone. Zenvo is said to have an H5P dual-core processor built by Apple rival and collaborator Samsung, and is clocked at 1.23GHz. The low-cost iPhone would also pack 1GB of RAM and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity. Meanwhile, the Zagato/Bertone model would have a presumably more advanced H6P processor, as well as support for TDD 4G LTE. Unlike the Zenvo, the processing core's speed was not included in the documents.
The supposedly leaked slides also came alongside images that are in keeping with previous views of a plastic iPhone.
According to a source familiar with the matter at Apple Insider, the slides and the images are in keeping with what they should look like at Apple. This is not to say that the slides are completely true as Apple has made no confirmation as of yet that a low-cost iPhone is even in development. However, these slides and these photos are among the most promising evidence so far.
