’50 Shades of Grey’ Movie Cast: ‘American Reunion’ Star Katrina Bowden Interested in Playing Kate Kavanagh

"Fifty Shades of Grey" casting rumors are heating up as blonde bombshell Katrina Bowden enters as the latest name to play Kate Kavanagh. She recently told Enstarz.com that she isn't ready to get down-and-dirty as Anastasia Steele but she would be willing to play best friend Kate Kavanagh.

"Playing Anastasia would be out of my comfort zone, but I could see myself playing her best friend," she told Enstars.

She said that she is a huge fan of the books and no matter what she'll "be there when the movie opens."

Other names mentioned to play the feisty, sometimes pushy blonde beauty is Jes Macallan ("Mistresses), Katie Cassidy ("Arrow"), Blake Lively, Ashley Benson and Amber Heard.

As for Kavanagh's love interest and Christian Grey's brother, Elliot Grey, Alex Pettyfer, Kellan Lutz, Chris Hemsworth and Ryan Gosling remain top contenders. Also mentioned has been Cam Gigandet, Paul Walker and Chris Pine.

Elliot is described as in early 30s and is the older brother of Christian. The two were adopted and have completely different personalities. Elliot is funny, outgoing and head over heels in love with Kavanagh and wants the whole world to know. Sometimes this makes Steele a little jealous as Christian is closed-off, cold and doesn't like to be touched.

Official casting news hopefully will be announced in the near future. Filming has reportedly been set to begin in the fall with the official release date for August 1, 2014. There were several rumors that casting news would be made at the San Diego Comic-Con but author E.L. James shut the rumor down tweeting that no such is happening.

HNGN reported that since the news won't be revealed at the San Diego event maybe James is waiting for August 1, 2013 (which would mark one year until the movie's release) to reveal who will be playing Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. Check out our suggestions of how we think James will announce the huge news, here.
