EA Sports is bringing “Infinity Engine” back to the “Madden NFL” franchise this year—only this time it will come in the form of “Infinity Engine 2.” In a recent interview with the Latin Times, “Madden NFL 25” creative director Michael Young, explained how the new software will enhance the gaming experience.
In “Madden NFL 13” Infinity Engine was introduced to authenticate the collisions. Just as in real life no two collisions can be exactly the same, the game’s creators wanted all the tackles, stiff arms, blocks etc. to be totally different.
As you may be able to tell from the covers of “Madden NFL 25”—Adrian Peterson is on the next gen covers and Barry Sanders is on the cover for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3—this year’s game centers on the running back.
Two specific features that will make life easier for the running game, courtesy of “Infinity Engine 2”, are “Force Impact” and “Stumble Recovery.”
"Force impact for running backs is something that is really exciting," said Young. "No longer will a back take the handoff, run directly into his offensive lineman and fall down.”
"Infinity Engine 2 really benefits the running back position because you'll have the ability to stay on your feet and gain positive yardage", he added. "The Force Impact development will also make truck sticks look more realistic while allowing the back to advance forward using his strength, not getting tripped up every time he crosses the line of scrimmage.”
Young also explained how “Stumble Recovery” provides something for the QB.
“Stumble Recovery will also make it more feasible for quarterbacks to extend plays and avoid sacks, not just submitting to sacks and turnovers," he explained.
In addition to the new Infinity Engine the game has added other features to create a realer gaming experience. These include more authentic stadium sounds and more realistic referee speech.
“Madden NFL 25” will hit stores for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on August 27. The game will debut of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 later this year.
