Troubled star Amanda Bynes has been has had quite a year, from legal battles to crazy Twitter rants and a variety of public sightings of the actress acting bizarre. Now after setting a small fire in a stranger's driveway, Bynes has been placed on a 5150 hold at a psychiatric hospital by officials, and many are wondering how she's doing now.
According to FOX News, a 5150 hold is a "section of the California Welfare code, which regulates involuntary hospitalization, used 'when any person, as a result of mental disorder, is a danger to others, or to himself or herself, or gravely disabled.'" Under such a code, Bynes can be held under psychiatric evaluation for up to 72 hours, the same lock-down code applied to Britney Spears during her public meltdown in 2008.
"Amanda seems to be doing well," a source told FOX News of Bynes's hospital stay, adding that a treatment plan is in the works. "The thing with Amanda is that it isn't as bizarre as it seems. She knows when to pull it together and act normal."
The night before police were called after Bynes made a campfire in a Thousand Oaks, CA driveway, the star was accused of trespassing in a retirement community after she had been deemed drunk and a cab had been called to pick her up. The cab driver told TMZ that the 27-year old star said, "Get me the f**k out of here...I don't have any money," and it was then that he kicked her out. Bynes went back to the retirement community and soon the police were called, though no arrest was made.
Radar Online reports that Bynes's parents Rick and Lynn are very concerned for their daughter, but have not spoken to her since she was hospitalized. They are now considering getting a conservatorship over her.
According to TMZ, the woman whose driveway was set on fire by Bynes wants her parents to pay for the damage, but they have refused.
Byne's last tweet was made on July 19, and reads: "Drake is gorgeous," a follow-up to a succession of tweets going between calling the rapper hideous, gorgeous and the most beautiful man on earth that Bynes claimed at one point had a "mutual crush" on her.
