Cory Monteith was planning a surprise birthday party for girlfriend Lea Michelle before he died, US Weekly reports. Just days before his death, Michelle was reportedly telling friends that she thought Monteith was planning on throwing her a 27th surprise birthday party in August.
"She didn't know that," a source told US Weekly about the party. "But she thought it could be a party and possibly a trip somewhere."
Michelle and Monteith had only been dating for a little over a year but the relationship was already getting serious. The "Glee" actress had begun to tell her friends that she thought Monteith was "the One."
According to several reports Michelle was hanging out with friends when she found out her boyfriend was found dead in a Vancouver hotel room. Once he came back from his trip they were planning on moving in together.
"Lea and Cory were planning on moving in together after he got back from Vancouver," another source told the magazine. "[They] weren't talking engagement or marriage yet, but it was heading that way. The first step was [that] Cory was going to move in [to Michelle's L.A. home ] completely. He was already there all the time."
The source added that Michelle and Monteith were completely happy and in love when he died. That affection was definitely evident in the last interview the actress did before her boyfriend's untimely death. Michelle told Marie Claire Mexico that Monteith made her life "incredible."
"It's more interesting having a relationship with someone you work with because we get more attention because we play boyfriend and girlfriend on the show and we are also in real life," she told the magazine. "But he is the best person I know, he has made my life so incredible, and I am so thankful for him and not only to have him as a partner but also as a co-worker."
Since the death of the "Glee" actor there have been several questions surrounding whether Michelle will return for Season 5 of the hit show and how the show plans on dealing with the loss of one of their beloved characters.
According to the Mirror, the show's producers have decided that they will continue on with the new season and have said that Michelle is believed to return as Rachel Berry.
