Ian Somerhalder has been a fan-favorite to play Christian Grey in the movie "Fifty Shades of Grey" ever since casting rumors were announced. He has constantly remained at the top of several lists but according to new rumors the "Vampire Diaries" star hasn't been a favorite to E.L. James.
Us Weekly is reporting that a source revealed James has told several people that Somerhalder is not going to be offered the part of the kinky billionaire.
"E.L. James was at a Comic-Con party July 20 telling people that the part won't go to Ian," the source told the magazine.
Somerhalder has been extremely vocal about his interest in playing Grey. Back in April, he told Ryan Seacrest during an interview on KIIS-FM that he was definitely interested in the role.
"I absolutely would be up for that. It could be very, very amazing," Somerhalder told Seacrest. "I have the book and I just started reading it. That would be a pretty incredible thing, and hopefully that could pan out."
"Beyond the shadow of a doubt, I think that would be a phenomenal opportunity!" he added.
The 34-year-old actor also opened about playing in the movie to Metro Online telling the newspaper that he never gets tired of people asking him about the character.
"One can never get bored of people asking about a huge project," he told the paper. "Everyone has to realize every guy in Hollywood is up for this role. It could be anyone - that's how that goes."
The actor sent pulses racing after he posed nude in a bathtub for his photographer and friend Butch Hogan. Many fans who want him cast as Grey went crazy over the sexy photos.
James has also reportedly said "Twilight" star Robert Pattinson wouldn't be cast as Christian Grey in the movie either.
Do you think Ian Somerhalder should still get the part as Christian Grey?
