Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Greg Jennings has fired a few verbal shots this offseason at former teammate Aaron Rodgers. Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier would like Jennings to stop, according to the Pioneer Press.
"We're the Vikings and we want to talk about us, what we're trying to get done," Frazier said. "That's where our focus has to be. There's so much work to be done, and we don't want to be looking at what's happening with other teams, other teams' players. We've got to focus on us. He's good with that."
Frazier met with Jennings Saturday to ask him to cease his comments about Rodgers.
The war of words between Jennings and Rodgers began after Jennings signed with the Vikings in March. The wide receiver believes Rodgers received excessive credit for the high level at which the Packers have played in recent seasons. At times this offseason, when discussing Rodgers, Jennings has even refrained from using his name when comparing the Packers QB to the franchise’s former quarterback Brett Farve.
Both Jennings and Rodgers have offered jokes when reporters ask the players about one another. Once, when Rodgers was asked about his former receiver he said, “Who?” Jennings has referred to Rodgers as “Number 12” or “the guy they have now.”
Rodgers was asked about the Vikings new receiver on Friday. He responded, “"One of the lessons you learn, you can't control everything and you shouldn't worry too much about the things that are said outside the building. You're worried about the opinions of your teammates and how they feel about you."
Frazier hopes that his discussion with Jennings will signal the end of Jennings’s comments about Rodgers.
"Hopefully, there will not be any more reported regarding that," the head coach said. "Hopefully we're moving on."
