Posts on the NASA Space Flight forum suggest that NASA might have invented a warp drive with the EmDrive, an experimental propulsion apparatus, according to IGN News.
The posts state, according to IGN News, that when lasers were fired into EmDrive's resonance chamber, some of the beams were travelling faster than the speed of light. If these claims are true, the EmDrive is producing a warp bubble. IGN News cites a forum post that states: "this signature (the interference pattern) on the EmDrive looks just like what a warp bubble looks like. And the math behind the warp bubble apparently matches the interference pattern found in the EmDrive."
Faster flight travel would mean shorter trips for manned missions to Mars. It would also have implications for searches for alien life outside our solar system with NASA's NExSS.
HNGN first reported on the EmDrive and the larger-scale Cannae Drive in 2014.
