Pauletta Washington turned down Denzel Washington's marriage proposal twice before finally agreeing to marry him. The couple, who have been married for 30 years, told Access Hollywood how the "2 Guns" actor had to pop the question three times before Pauletta accepted.
"Three times he proposed to you?" Access Hollywood asked Pauletta, 62.
"Yes!" she told Access.
Denzel looked on a little stunned and asked his wife if it had really been three different times he proposed.
"It was three times, I know with age sometimes things [go], the mind," she joked with her husband, 58.
Pauletta didn't say why Denzel had to ask for her hand in marriage so many times.
"You heard it here first," Denzel said. "She turned me down, she said no. And since it was three times, that means she turned me down twice."
"That's true. I turned you down twice and the third time we did it," Pauletta said.
The couple couldn't have looked happier despite recent cheating allegations as they walked down the red carpet for the "2 Guns" premiere. Denzel and Pauletta have four kids together and are a really close family, Yahoo reports.
In May the "Out of Time" actor was spotted with his wife at the University of Pennsylvania for his son Malcom's graduation. Besides Malcolm, 22, they also have a 29-year-old son named John who is a professional football player, a 25-year-old daughter named Katia and Malcolm's twin sister, Olivia.
The couple has been dealing with rumors of infidelity after a news report surfaced claiming that Denzel was spotted kissing another woman at a friend's house. His rep denied the claims saying that they were false and the actor and his wife were not headed towards a divorce.
"2 Guns" which also stars Mark Wahlberg will be out Aug. 2.
