She's gearing up to release her fourth studio album, "Prism," which best friend and songwriter Bonnie McKee calls a more "grown-up" and mature version of the star's signature sound, but will Katy Perry's first single from the new album, "ROAR," live up to the hype?
The star just revealed a video teaser for "ROAR," in which the brunette beauty flicks on a lighter in the dark before setting fire to what looks like the blue wig from her previous album "Teenage Dream". Leopard print interstitials "#ROAR" and "AUG 12" flash onscreen over an ominous background soundscape. Notably, the star is dressed in stripes and donning a dark shade of purple lipstick in the short video.
Is she setting fire to her old self and image? Is her career about to go up in flames, in the best way possible?
While we'll get to hear "ROAR" very soon, Perry's album won't drop until October 22, just in time for Lady GaGa's highly anticipated "ARTPOP" to battle her out on the Billboard charts. The media is already getting ready for a pop death match to see who will chart the highest, as Lady GaGa's new single "Applause" will premiere along with a music video on Aug. 19, the same day "ARTPOP" will be available for pre-order.
So what can we expect from Perry's new album, "Prism?" The star has already began promotion for the album with a crazy giant gold truck tagged with the album name and release date that has been spotted driving through L.A., and fellow singer friends like Adam Lambert have had a hand in spreading the word.
A new track called "Double Rainbow" has been announced or "Prism," and in June, another song called "Bad Photographs" was revealed. Last month, two more track names were released to the public, "It Takes Two" and "Unconditional," and writers and producers Sia Furler, Max Martin, Dr. Luke, Bonnie McKee have all been confirmed "Prism" collaborators.
