Sophia Grace Brownlee, YouTube personality who rose to fame after her appearance on "The Ellen Degeneres Show," will be potraying Little Red Riding Hood in the film adaptation of "Into the Woods."
Sophia and her cousin Rosie McClelland gained Internet fame with their viral of their Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass" cover on YouTube. The performing duo has made multiple appearances on Ellen DeGeneres' talk show, and guest-starred in an episode of the Nickelodeon show "Sam & Cat."
The talented Sophia, 8, confirmed to Playbill.com on Thursday, Aug. 7 that she was indeed cast in the film. "Into the Woods" will begin filming in September.
According to Playbill.com, "Into the Woods" has a star-studded cast, which includes the following actors:
"Emily Blunt to play the Baker's Wife, with Meryl Streep as the Witch, 'Sweeney Todd' star Johnny Depp as the Wolf, Academy and Tony Award nominee Anna Kendrick ("The Last Five Years," "Pitch Perfect") as Cinderella, Tony Award winner James Corden (One Man, Two Guvnors) as the Baker, Daniel Huttlestone ("Les Misérables") as Jack and MacKenzie Mauzy (Giant) as Rapunzel."
Sophia's uncle, Lucas Brownlee, also confirmed her new role on Twitter.
"Its official, @PrincessSGB (sophia grace brownlee) has landed the part of little red riding hood in the disney movie in to the wood," Lucas tweeted.
"Into the Woods" is set to be released to theaters on Dec. 25, 2014.
