In the world of sports, usually when someone accuses a player of using performance enhancing drugs, that player gets extremely upset. Most recently, Los Angeles Angles designated hitter Albert t Pujols threatened to sue his accuser after allegations of steroid use However, Reigning NFL MVP Adrian Peterson is a bit different. He takes the allegations as a compliment, according to USA TODAY Sports.
"Seriously. Especially with the amount of work I put in," Peterson said. "Guys say that to me, or if I hear someone saying that — it makes me feel good.
"When you know you don't do it, and someone's saying you do, you're like, 'Wow. They think I'm on HGH? I'm doing that good? Well, hoo! Thank you, Jesus!' It's a compliment. I don't get mad about it at all."
Earlier this summer, the NFL Players Association told players that they would need to send in a blood sample for testing so they can determine the normal level of HGH in a person’s system.
However, the NFL said the league and the NFLPA are trying to come to terms on "full resolution of any remaining issues, including the role of a population study" prior to the implantation of standard league-wide drug testing.
Peterson said he’s anticipating the chance to prove he’s clean. Although he said Minnesota Vikings running back doesn’t know which players are using, he’s “sure” those players exist.
“The reality of it is, people are trying to provide for their families. People are trying to keep their spot on the rosters,” he said, “If it's something they can use that's not going to show up, they're going to use it."
Peterson rushed for 2097 yards (eight yards shy of Eric Dickerson’s single season rushing record) and 12 touchdowns during his 2012 MVP campaign.
