Was Blackie on the verge of a blackout?
Actor John Stamos was arrested Friday night in Beverly Hills for driving under the influence.
The 51-year-old was pulled over by police around 7:45 p.m. after the LAPD received several calls warning them about a reckless driver. Stamos, who was driving a silver Mercedes, was immediately handcuffed, TMZ reported. He was the only person in the car.
Officers on the scene quickly decided that Stamos required medical attention, "due to a possible medical condition," and was taken to a local hospital, according to People.
Stamos, who was released to the care of the hospital, was issued a citation for DUI and must appear at the LAX couthouse on Sept. 11, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
In 2007, Stamos infamously appeared drunk on the Australian talk show "Mornings with Kerri-Anne," slurring his words and making lewd gestures. "I'll be honest," he told the Advocate two years later. "When I went on that morning show, I was drunk. Yes, I was on sleeping pills, and I was jet-lagged, but I was also just plastered.... I was f---ing drunk in Australia. Big deal."
The DUI comes in the midst of a big career upswing for the actor, who got his start in the early '80s playing Blackie Parrish on "General Hospital." This fall, Stamos will star in the new Fox comedy "Grandfathered," and he is producing and starring—reprising his classic Uncle Jesse role—in "Fuller House," the "Full House" spinoff debuting on Netflix in 2016.
