When Brian Williams' suspension ends in August, a tentative agreement will keep him at NBC, but not back in the anchor chair.
An announcement is expected on Thursday, but "NBC Nightly News" fill-in Lester Holt will become the permanent anchor, making him the first black solo anchor of a network nightly newscast, according to CNN Money.
"In the coming months, MSNBC is expected to introduce more hard news and reporting from NBC News journalists during daytime hours, which would be something of a break from its more opinion-based programming," according to The New York Times.
One anonymous source told CNN that Williams will lend his face to the struggling MSNBC channel, but details are few and subject to change. "No one knows anything," one anchor at the network complained Wednesday, according to CNN. Negotiations at 30 Rock, anonymous sources told CNN, are seeking to keep Holt in the anchor chair while not losing Williams to a rival network.
"Lester has oil tanker-sized reserves of good will," an NBC staffer told CNN Money earlier this month. "Many people are rooting for him."
How and when Williams will apologize or express remorse for his false stories and exaggerations starting with the revealed exaggeration surrounding a 2003 Iraq War mission for which Williams received six months suspension.
