Chris Pine has signed on for DC's upcoming comic book movie "Wonder Woman" to portray the Amazonian superheroine's love interest Steve Trevor. The "Star Trek" actor has signed a multi-picture deal, which includes sequel options, according to The Wrap.
Steve Trevor is a U.S. Army Intelligence officer who crashes his plane on Paradise Island, where Princess Diana lives. She takes care of him, follows him back to America, and eventually becomes Wonder Woman, according to IGN.
There were some rumors doing the rounds that 34-year-old Pine had been chosen to play Steve Trevor, as well as recent speculation that the star had been signed on to star as Hal Jordan in the Green Lantern Corps movie. It would seem that this is no longer the case.
Pine has to first wrap up production on "Star Trek Beyond," his third film as Capt. James Kirk, before he moves on to "Wonder Woman," which is being directed by Patty Jenkins and is slated to hit theatres on June 23, 2017, Entertainment Weekly reported.
