On Wednesday, a 17-foot wide, 20-foot deep sinkhole formed in the exact same spot where a Florida man was swallowed into the ground in 2013. Hillsborough County officials claim that the new hole opened as a result of recent rain and severe dry spots. It is the same hole that claimed the life of Jeffrey Bush two years ago. There have been no injuries or fatalities to report, according to the Washington Post.
During the 2013 incident, Bush's brother, Jeremy, tried to rescue him - even going into the hole himself - but he was not successful in his rescue attempt and the body remains lost to this day.
After the incident, the Bush home and two other homes adjacent to it were razed and the hole was filled with concrete, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
The sinkhole is now on an abandoned lot containing nothing but trees and shrubs and is surrounded by a metal fence to prevent anyone from coming near the area.
Larry McKinnon of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says that specialists are surveying the surrounding areas to be sure there aren't any other areas susceptible to collapse, according to ABC News.
No locals were evacuated.
